Original Italian exhibition poster for the 20th International Salon of Humour, held in Bordighera in 1967. Featuring the wonderfully playful work of French illustrator Raymond Peynet, the design depicts a mermaid holding a portrait of one of Peynet’s instantly recognisable lovers.
With its loose black linework, crisp white ground and brilliant blue typography, it’s a charming example of 1960s European graphic design — playful, simple and very Peynet.
