This piece is from a series of teaching posters which were created around the turn of the century, and were printed by Champenois, the atelier which printed the fine posters of Alphonse Mucha. Educational charts became common in the 1800’s because the industrial revolution had created a new middle class, more children went to school and classroom size increased.
