Aigua de Vilajuïga

A vintage advertising poster for Aigua de Vilajuïga, a naturally sparkling mineral water sourced from a spring in Vilajuïga, Catalonia. Rich in natural minerals (historically noted for lithium), it was promoted in the early 20th century as beneficial for digestion and general health.

Designed by Leonetto Cappiello around 1912, the poster is a classic example of his 'figure-flash' style, using a bold, theatrical figure isolated against a dark background to command instant attention. The Spanish text highlights benefits for the stomach, kidneys and liver, proudly advertising its lithium content — a common health claim of the period. Vilajuïga later became famously associated with Salvador Dalí, adding to its cultural cachet.
