Michelin – Nunc est Bibendum (Green Background) | Framed

The 'Nunc est Bibendum' poster was created in 1898 by French artist O’Galop (Marius Rossillon) for Michelin. It introduced the iconic Michelin Man (Bibendum), depicted raising a glass filled with road hazards like nails and glass.

The slogan, 'Le pneu Michelin boit l’obstacle' ('The Michelin tyre drinks up obstacles'), emphasised the tyre’s durability. Inspired by a line from Horace’s Odes, the poster combined classical reference with clever advertising, making it one of the most famous and influential posters in commercial art history.
