One of France's most distinctive poster artists, celebrated for his expressive brushwork, vivid colour palette and unmistakable visual energy. Born in Saint-Denis, Quarez developed a highly personal style that combined painting, illustration and graphic design, producing posters that were both playful and provocative.
Throughout his career, Quarez created cultural, political and advertising posters that transformed everyday subjects into bold visual statements. His work drew inspiration from some of the great masters of poster art, including Jules Chéret, Leonetto Cappiello, A.M. Cassandre and Raymond Savignac, while maintaining a unique voice that was entirely his own.
Characterised by dynamic compositions, spontaneous brushstrokes and vibrant neon colours, Michel Quarez posters are instantly recognisable and remain highly sought after by collectors. Today, his work is regarded as an important continuation of the French poster tradition, combining humour, artistic freedom and graphic innovation in equal measure.
