Tapies, Objets et Grands Format

Antoni Tàpies was a Spanish painter, sculptor and art theorist, who was one of the most important artists of his generation. He helped cofound a Post-War school of art called Dau al Set, which was connected to the Dada and Surrealist movements. Later, he was an integral part of the Art Informel movement, which fused mixed media and painting. As an art theorist he published multiple essays which discussed art, politics and life. His experimental paintings were often of mixed media - including marble dust, found objects and resin. His textured and tactile artworks were influenced by the social and political environment of Spain.
