Antoni Tàpies, the 1st Marquess of Tàpies was a painter, sculptor and art theorist, who was one of the most important artists of his generation. He helped co- found a Post- War school of art called Dau al Set, which was connected to the Dadaist and Surrealist movements. Later, he was an integral part of the Art Informel movement, which fused mixed media and painting. He was also an art theorist, having written multiple essays which discussed art, as well as politics and life.

The Galerie Maeght is a gallery of modern art in Paris that displays primarily French and Spanish artworks.
