Pol Bury was a Belgian sculptor and painter. He began his artistic pursuits at the age of 16, and throughout his prolific career he explored writing, drawing, jewellery making and fountain construction, while his main focus remained painting and sculpting. Bury was a member of the Surrealist movement, exhibiting at the International Exhibition of Surrealism in 1945, before his practice shifted towards abstraction. After meeting Alexander Calder in the 50's, Bury began experimenting with kinetic art - and is considered one of the pioneers of this art form.
