An abstract composition titled "Balloons", American artist Alexander Calder displays black, red, and orange circles with lines that extend to the edge of the canvas.

Known for his wire artwork, Alexander Calder (1898-1976) innovated the modern art world with his suspended moving sculptures, also known as mobiles. Throughout his career he also experimented with oil, watercolor, etching, gouache, serigraphy, jewelry, and building interiors.
